         S.F.D.A. Members,
With the recent tragedy back east in Washington D.C. Pennsylvania and NYC (my hometown) I've discussed the events with many people and feel the need to do more. We the board would ask of you, the members, to participate. Here's the plan: At our next two special events, Cricket Doubles on 9/23 and the Chicago Doubles, we would like to ask a donation of $5 per team. All the money collected will go to the Red Cross.

    Thanks,
    The Prez

P.S. This is only a suggested fee, feel free to donate what you can.

    A - League - Eagles Drift Inn

Mike Downs      The SFDA sponsored a Jr. ADO Dart player, Mike Downs. At the Paddock Bowl on May 5th, there were 7 players, aged 13 - 17 who attended. In 1st place was Jim Coon, 2nd place Mike Downs, 3rd place Mike Paris and 4th place Chris Larson. Mike shot great and is an alternate (trip to Clevland). He showed great knowledge sportsmanship and a real knowledge of his outs. Well done!!! PS - Mike keep giving pointers to your Mom and Dad, your coaching has helped them! :-)

Good luck! to all the teams advancing in the playoffs, what a great competitive season. And for those of you not in the playoffs, cngrats for making it fun, which is what its all about. Don't forget sign-ups May 23rd at the Eagles Drift In.
For those of you who did not make it to our awards/shoot, you missed a great time. good food, good darts and a good old fashioned head shaving! (thanks Alex) Although Bridget stole the show with her keen Irish bantering, Alex was the real star. It was his idea to donate hair and raffle money to "Wigs for Kids" (An organization that makes wigs for young chemo patients).
You as members should take pride in the fact that we also raised $300.00 for this worthy cause. (plus Alex's Ponytail!) Next time I hope to see more of you there.
I've discussed with Ed Miller about doing a joint BBQ this summer. So you'll be hearing about that shortly.
I'm having trophys made for those of you whom we missed and should be ready in a couple weeks.
On the ADO front: (thanks Patricia and Ed)
Jennifer Daggy and Patricia Miller, Chris White and Paul Soncuya will be representing the SFDA/GGDO at the regionals in Marin (Petes) May 12th.

    More to come
May your darts fly straight and true,

The Awards Banquet for the 2000 winter season went smoooooth and without a hitch this Sunday at the City Forest Lodge. A good number of people were in attendence, I would guess we had over 60 people sign up for the dart shoot afterwards (Blind Draw Doubles). This was the first season that each and every trophy found its way home! :-) Amazing things can happen!
It was good to see people I haven't seen in quite a while! Allthough I did notice that there was a lack of B-Leaguers ... whats up people ... By the way I ate your breakfast ... ha ha ha... Bob and Maggie Martell were there, taking care of business, (they supply the board setups!), and Maggie was my partner in the blind draw! They also received a beautiful wall plack/clock for their dedication to the sport of darts and their help in the SFDA! (For those of you that don't know Bob also runs 2 other dart leagues east of San Francisco! Where does he find the time!
So the dart shoot , excuse the pun, was a hoot! Battling all the way to the top and taking first place was Art R and Les Swift! Losing the last final leg of the match were 2nd place winners Kent Allen and Bridget O'Donoghue, third place victory went to Ron Mathews and Rene Gutierrez, still in the money at fourth was Maggie Martell and Robert Adams, and in fifth was Trish Gross and Paulo Cleofe. Hitting the mystery out (16), was Maggie Martell and Robert Adams! Payouts were 5th place $10 ea., 4th $20 ea., 3rd $50 ea., 2nd $75 ea., and 1st place was $100 ea., the mystery out was $62. For a total payout of $572!! Congratulations to the winners and everyone who participated! It was awesome fun and laughs!
After all the food was consumed, the prizes raffeled off and the darts stopped their flight, Alex Plachutin, at the hands of many SFDA Players, got his foot length of a pony tail cut off for the great organization wigs for kids, an organization that makes wigs for kids who have a need. Check out the photos under Winter Awards Banquet, at page three is alex and his once glorious hair :-) he he he. Alex sends his hair along with $300 dollars to wigs for kids.
